Legend in Arabic within circle and the outer margin bearing the Sultan's name. Rev. 'Sri Sulta Lititimi' (in Nagari) in two lines within dotted circle. Deyell 324. Tye 387. Very rare. The obverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, very fine.

Iltutmish was the third sultan of the Slave Dynasty. He consolidated the new Islamic sultanate in India after the death of his predecessor Qutb-ud-din Aibak and successfully prevented the rampaging Mongols from entering the Indian subcontinent. This bilingual type carries the Sultan's name in both Arabic and Nagari
